Autopsies were scheduled Sunday in a possibly alcohol-related, head-on collision that killed a 24-year-old Wisconsin woman and her toddler son and left another son critically injured.

The crash happened after 11 p.m. Friday on the Tri-State Tollway near Russell Road in Lake County. Nicole Polk's southbound Chevrolet Cavalier collided head-on with a northbound Toyota Camry driven by an Orland Park woman, Illinois State Police Master Sgt. Susan Ewald said Saturday.

Polk, of Algoma, Wis., and Tevin Temple, her 16-month-old son, were pronounced dead on the scene, authorities said. Polk's 2 1/2 -year-old son was critically injured and taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, Ewald said.

Open alcohol was found in Polk's car, Ewald said.
